What is a Podiatric Surgeon

Podiatric Surgeons should not be confused with Orthopaedic Surgeons. Podiatric Surgeons, are not doctors, but are specifically trained in the surgical and non surgical management of problems affecting the foot and its associated structures, which may impact on other areas of the body.

Orthopaedic Surgeons train as doctors before specializing in Orthopaedic Surgery of the whole body with only a minority specializing in foot problems.

Podiatric Surgery is a specialized form of foot surgery performed by a Podiatric Surgeon,
the aim of which is  to correct foot deformities whilst maintaining or improving foot function.
